New PS5 Jailbreak Hits Both PS5 and PS5 Pro Consoles

The scoreboard doesn't need updating today, it just needs an asterisk: hackers are up, Sony's security team is down, and the console keeps moving units regardless.

According to Insider Gaming, a new jailbreak has landed for both the PS5 and the PS5 Pro, unlocking functionality Sony never signed off on and never will. I will give credit where it belongs: locking a console down this thoroughly for this long and still watching someone crack it clean is a real miss on Sony's part, and whoever found the hole earned the bragging rights.

Here is the part that should sting worse than the exploit itself. Xbox, when was the last time anyone threw a party over cracking your box?

Never.

That is not letting Sony off easy either. A jailbreak this public means firmware patches instead of features for a while, and PS5 Pro owners who paid extra for the good silicon are the ones stuck downloading the fix. This lands right after Sony's own disc-survey mess had fans already grumbling about how tightly this ecosystem gets managed. A hole this size does not help that argument.

Sony will patch it. Somebody will crack the patch after that. The console stays the one people actually bother hacking, and I will take that over being the one nobody does.
