This policy covers the public VG Pulse website.
What we collect
The site has no user accounts and no comment forms. It runs no analytics and no advertising trackers, sets no tracking cookies, and builds no profile of you.
What stays in your browser
Two things, both there to make the site behave the way you would expect:
- If you switch between the light and dark theme, that choice is saved in local storage, so the site still looks the way you left it on your next visit.
- As you move between pages, your scroll position is saved in session storage, so going back returns you where you were. Your browser discards it when you close the tab.
Both stay on your device and are never sent to us. Nothing else is kept in your browser, and the site sets no cookies of any kind.
What our servers see
Two things reach our own infrastructure as you read:
- Serving a page means our hosting and content-delivery providers receive the details any web request carries: your IP address, your browser's user agent, and the page you asked for. They are used to serve and secure the site.
- Paging past the first screen of the feed, filtering it, or using search sends a request to our content system, which receives those same details plus the search terms or filters used.
Neither is used to profile readers or to build an advertising audience, and neither is sold or shared for advertising.
Embedded video
Some articles embed a YouTube video. Nothing loads from YouTube until you click play. Until then the embed is a still image served by this site, and your browser makes no request to Google. If you do click play, the player loads from youtube-nocookie.com and YouTube's own privacy policy governs that playback.
Links to other sites
Articles link to and cite external sources. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy does not cover.
