PS Plus October 2026 Free Games: Racing, Monsters, Cubes

F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 headline October's PlayStation Plus lineup, but the Halloween extras come with strings attached.

Sony has named its October PlayStation Plus Essential games, and the pitch is the usual one: three titles, zero extra charge, as long as the subscription keeps renewing. Starting October 6, members can claim F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2, all staying in the library until November 2, as confirmed by GameSpot and the official PlayStation Blog.

The lineup covers three different itches. F1 25 brings Codemasters' 2025 season roster, career mode, My Team 2.0, and the AI-squad multiplayer of F1 World. Hunt: Showdown 1896 drops players into its extraction-shooter swamps, hunting bosses and other players with equal suspicion. Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 keeps the series' voxel-block giants coming, this time in a crossover pulling heroes and monsters from across the EDF catalog for co-op and split-screen fights. Notably, PlayStation Access also listed Hello Neighbor alongside the trio in its own rundown, a fourth title not mentioned in Sony's official post or in the other outlets covering this month's slate.

What Else Is Included

  • F1 25 lands on PS5 only
  • Hunt: Showdown 1896 is also PS5 exclusive
  • Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 covers both PS5 and PS4
  • September's games (Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life, Chained Echoes) must be claimed by October 5 or they disappear from reach

The Halloween Fine Print

Sony is also rolling out horror-themed bundles this month: a Call of Duty: Warzone pack on October 1, a Hunt: Showdown 1896 starter pack on October 6, and an Overwatch 2 pack on October 7. They read as a free seasonal bonus, except the packs require owning the base game already, so the free item is really a discount on content for a game Sony has already been paid for. Alongside that, Spider-Man: Brand New Day avatars are going out through Sony Pictures Core, but only members who also buy the film there unlock them, which makes the giveaway a cross-promotion for a separate purchase rather than a gift.

None of that makes the three headline games worth less. F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and EDF World Brothers 2 are a genuinely varied set, and a subscription that hands over three full games a month is still doing more for the price than most live-service stores manage with a season pass. But the Halloween layer shows where the real design work goes: not into what's free, but into what the free thing quietly points you toward buying next. Sony gets a retention bump, a movie plug, and a reason to open the app in October. The subscriber gets a bundle of pixels that only works if they already paid for something else.
