SNL Pits Link Against GTA 6's Jason in Weekend Update
Saturday Night Live turned the two-week gap between Ocarina of Time Remake and GTA 6 into a gloriously petty Weekend Update feud, and honestly, someone had to say it.

Two weeks. That is the entire gap Nintendo left between the Ocarina of Time Remake and Grand Theft Auto VI, and somebody at Saturday Night Live clearly could not resist poking at it. Weekend Update turned the overlap into a sketch where Link and GTA 6's Jason sit side by side and pick each other apart like two kids forced to share a birthday, as Polygon reports.
You will like the premise before you even see the jokes. Here are the little things that make this bit sing:
- A hero who communicates mostly in gibberish being asked to defend himself in a verbal argument, which is its own small comedy engine.
- A debate format that treats a plucky fairy boy and a hardened crime protagonist as equally credible talking heads.
- The sheer, unbothered confidence of Nintendo scheduling a cozy fantasy remake two weeks before the biggest release of the decade, as if GTA 6 were just another Tuesday.
- The fact that most other publishers quietly cleared the runway for November 19, and Nintendo looked at that runway and parked right on it.
That last one is the actual story dressed up as a punchline. Every other publisher treated GTA 6's date like a minefield to step around, and Nintendo treated it like a party to crash, which tells you exactly how much confidence the company has in a thirty-year-old game's drawing power and exactly how little patience it has for anyone else's calendar.
