Friends of Safety and DANGEN ENTERTAINMENT have set a console launch date for Kingdom of Night: November 5. The isometric action RPG, soaked in 80s synth and neon, is heading to Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series consoles, and PlayStation 5, according to DayOne.

That's roughly eleven months after the game first showed up on Steam back in December. This is a straight port cycle, the kind where a small studio ships PC first, watches to see if anyone actually shows up, then brings the console crowd in once the game's proven it can hold an audience. Nothing wrong with that. It's just not the same thing as a day-one multiplatform launch, and nobody should pretend it is.

What You're Actually Getting

Kingdom of Night leans hard into its 80s theme. Think dark streets, synth-heavy atmosphere, isometric camera, the kind of action RPG combat where you're clicking through waves of enemies and watching numbers pop. It's a genre with a loyal following and a low tolerance for filler, so the fact that this one built enough of a following on PC to justify a console version is worth something on its own.

  • Developer: Friends of Safety
  • Publisher: DANGEN ENTERTAINMENT
  • Console launch: Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series, PlayStation 5
  • Release date: November 5
  • Original platform: PC via Steam, released last December

The Part Nobody's Told Us Yet

Here's what wasn't part of the announcement: how it runs. Isometric ARPGs live and die on frame pacing and readability when the screen fills up with effects, and Switch in particular has a rough history swallowing games that looked fine on a gaming PC. No performance details, no price confirmation for the console versions, none of that showed up alongside the date.

So the date's real. The rest is a promise. If Kingdom of Night runs on Switch the way it ran on Steam, that's the whole story right there, and a good one. If it doesn't, this becomes just another port that got announced louder than it got finished.

We'll know November 5.
