GTA 6 Screenshot Drops a Not-So-Subtle Pulp Fiction Nod

A new GTA 6 screenshot puts Lucia and Jason in a diner booth that looks suspiciously like Pulp Fiction's opening heist, pistols and all.

Give Rockstar the point for restraint it never actually used, because the new GTA 6 screenshot making the rounds is about as subtle as a shotgun under a napkin. The image, first shared by Love magazine on Instagram and then laid side by side with the Pulp Fiction diner scene by the GTA 6 Countdown account, shows Lucia and Jason gripping pistols at a table with an empty duffel bag waiting beside her. If that is breakfast, it is the most heavily armed breakfast in Florida.

The framing lines up close enough to Tarantino's Pumpkin and Honey Bunny, played by Tim Roth and Amanda Plummer, that calling it coincidence would insult everyone's intelligence. Rockstar has never pretended to be shy about this kind of homage. Vice City wore its Scarface obsession like a tracksuit, and GTA 5 spent half its runtime winking at Heat. A Bonnie and Clyde pair robbing a diner is just the house style showing up on schedule, as GameSpot laid out from the Love feature.

The writers backing that feature gave the screenshot some actual weight instead of leaving it as fan bait. GTA 6 writer Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern told Love magazine the goal was two protagonists who are "vulnerable, tough, flawed, right sometimes, wrong sometimes, able to learn from each other," which is a generous way of saying these two are going to make some very bad decisions together. Fellow writer Alexa D'Agostino put it plainer, describing characters built to be "perfectly imperfect, with clichés, but also undeniably real." TGG's channel folded the same screenshot into a broader rundown of new GTA 6 details, from Lucia's backstory to Rockstar's Florida research, without adding anything that contradicts the magazine's account.

Here is the one honest concession before I get back to needling: Xbox Series X|S owners get this exact same diner booth on November 19, day one, no asterisk, no timed deal, no begging. Rockstar is not playing favorites, so I cannot score this as a platform loss for the house across the street. What I can say is that neither console actually built this thing. PlayStation's catalog has spent years proving story-first crime games are worth making; Xbox is just grateful somebody else kept making them.

What happens to Lucia and Jason once the credits roll? Badly, if the movie this screenshot is borrowing from is any guide, and Rockstar clearly wants you thinking about that stickup before you've even picked up the controller.
