Two hundred gigabytes. That's the number the director dropped for Final Fantasy VII Revelation's install size, and it's not a rumor pulled from a leaked spec sheet, it's the person making the game telling you directly, as reported by Insider Gaming.
Call it a 'next-gen' epic if you want (the marketing team certainly will), but 200GB is also just a receipt: uncompressed cutscenes, high-resolution textures streamed for a game this scale don't compress themselves out of existence because a press release used the word 'optimized'. That's not a knock on the ambition. It's a note for anyone still running a 512GB boot drive who thought one AAA install a year was the ceiling.
Console owners get the privilege of choosing which other games to delete first. PC players get to choose between an expensive NVMe upgrade and staring at a progress bar during install (that's the part the trailer never shows).
